Crochet flower

I've slowly been plugging away at my various projects so I haven't had a lot to blog about recently. This evening though I have fished out my new and marvellous gold knit pro crochet hook and some embroidery silks to make a flower I have been thinking about for weeks. It looks fab, it will become a hair bobble I think and I can wear it with pride. I plan on making a friend a brooch so I will ask what colours she wants and make a cluster of them. I will upload the finished article when it is done.

Finishing it did not take long at all so here is also a picture of the finished article.

Crochet

I had my second lesson yesterday and learnt some lovely new stitches. We made a flower which is pretty cool.

I have been practising since and some have been successful and some not so.

I attempted to make a circle and it went pointy so it of cause had to go on the cats head. Then I tried to make a chicken but I followed the pattern wrong so it became a cat sun hat.

Then I made an easier chicken (she needs eyes and a beak) and also a heart which isn't quite right but not far off. There are loads of projects on the go at the moment and not sure what will get finished next but watch this space.

The scarf that became a snood that became a bag

The snood is now a knitting bag. It's a bit long but it's perfect for keeping my balls of wool in and I finally have a use for the odd length scarf that was sat doing nothing. Not bad for an afternoons work.

Update

Just logged into my blogger account and I am getting quite a lot of views! One in Germany, one in France and one in New Zealand. I have had more than 3 in total but those 3 seemed very odd. Maybe I am little more interesting than I thought!

I should really be in bed but I can't put the crochet hook down!

Lovely headband to keep my ears warm

The scarf is pretty much done so I have decided to knit a headband in a similar colour wool. The wool is beautiful, it took some getting used to after the thickest wool ever but I seem to have the hang of it. It's easier to cable aswell, seems to have more give in it.

The new workshops at Knit Nottingham have been uploaded so I am going to go to sweater club in December and January and hopefully manage to knit myself a jumper. I also might try to get onto a knitting workshop to increase my skills with things other than knitting and purling!

I also have some lovely fabric on its way to make my knitting bag. I am using the one I got from the charity shop but it's not big enough.

Busy busy busy bee!!

The chunky cable knit scarf

I finished the knitting part of my scarf today. It's amazing, it's skinny but extra long and extra thick so it will be so warm when winter arrives. Very proud of myself seeing as I have never cable knitted before.

To finish it off I just need to see in the ends...might have to look up a tutorial online for that bit. The lovely lady at Knit Nottingham has also offered to show me how to crochet around the edge to make it neat next week. How lovely.

Charity shopping

I went to drop some things off and to look for some material to make a knitting bag. I didn't find any but I did find a bag I can take the handles off and a fab vintage pinnie! Not sure whether to keep it to use or make it into something else, we shall see.

I can crochet!

The long awaited course was today and it was brill! We learnt how to make granny squares which after a while I got the hang of and found easy enough to knock out...all but quite slowly. I'm looking forward to carrying on.

Whilst at knit Nottingham I couldn't resist buying more wool for future projects. I selected some lovely will and have plans for what do with it all so watch this space.
